Sembradores de Cristo December 10, 2009

“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” (Luke 2:10)
¡Feliz navidad! I’ve always loved how the angel mentions the word “great” here. It’s not a little joy, it’s GREAT joy that Jesus came into this world to save ALL people. One of the things that has always excited me personally so much about Christmas is the fact that this GREAT joy that I have I have all year round. I don’t just have it during Christmastime like so many who experience temporal happiness being with family, giving/receiving gifts, and helping others. It’s GREAT that the joy of the Lord is our strength 365 days/yr, 24 hrs/day. It’s a GREAT joy to be called by Him to preach the gospel to the ends of the earth, in our case to far off mountain villages of Zacatecas.
Christmas trip 09
We will be departing Del Rio the 27th and returning the 2nd. Please pray for the Elliott family, the Kirby family, and the Blanco family. The Kirbys are a precious family from Oklahoma who were at one time full-time missionaries to Indonesia . Gamaliel Blanco is the same precious brother from Acuña who accompanied us during last year’s Christmas trip with his wife and 3 yr old daughter leading worship. Please intercede for this trip my brothers and sisters. My wife and I are heavily burdened for these people as we once again have no one presently visiting/discipling them. We have the following activities planned for this upcoming trip: 1) Village visits/services, 2) Chicken feed/Christmas & New Year celebration in Parral de las Huertas, 3) Prayer walking of “El Porvenir” and “Rio Florido.” “El Porvenir” and “Rio Florido” are two towns close to Jerez . These are two of many towns close to Jerez that do not have the gospel. I say towns because until now we have only worked in villages. These are much more populated areas. During Spring Break we will be bringing a college team who will help us evangelize these two towns and launch ministry. Therefore, we will be performing ground plowing work this Christmas such as prayer walking and meeting with the local authorities. You may remember that we were denied the local authorization in “El Cargadero” last summer. These two towns are nearby to El Cargadero. We are really believing that God has key families in this place that He has called as key spiritual leaders that we will be running into according to His divine will.
How can you help? We are still in need of $1000 dollars to complete this trip’s expenses. We plan to hand out bags of rice and beans in Parral besides the chicken. We are looking forward to this opportunity to show love to the people of Parral. Parral is probably the most impoverished village in the area. Please consider helping us. We also have some backpacks left over with school materials that we are going to try to take down as well. Please pray that we will have no trouble crossing any of these items.
Family/personal news
My ministerial ordination was a great blessing from the Lord. I thank Pastor Jim Wilson and Marco Rivera who discussed/counseled doctrinal issues with me and my beloved youth pastor C.J Ellis from Oklahoma for making the trip all the way out here to preach the message. Also, Diana passed her American citizenship test and is now waiting for her oath. Praise the Lord for that! She has been faithfully studying and preparing for this test for more than a year now. Our local church Esperanza Del Rio Community Church celebrated its grand opening this last week after recently passing the required building safety inspections. Esperanza has dynamically reached out to the families in Del Rio . Diana and I are blessed to be able to be a part of this church’s outreach programs and be an integral part of the church’s vision of establishing churches all over Mexico.
Urgent need/monthly support
The need for us to get to Zacatecas on a full-time basis is greater than ever. We seriously need folks to commit to supporting us on a monthly basis. We are 100% committed to planting churches in these far-off, idolatrous, lost and forgotten areas of Zacatecas. I would seriously appreciate the invitation to your church this coming semester to go and raise support. Raising support for our ministry has been difficult but we aren’t giving up. Please join our team by supporting us monthly even with $25/mth.
